Days and Nights

Days and Nights was the result of the self-imposed challenge of making 5 songs in 5 days. Each song took 7 to 10 hours to create, and an additional day was taken to mix and master the entire EP.

The idea of it was to follow creative impulses and overcome analysis paralysis. The pressure of knowing that time could not be wasted became an interesting limitation that ironically forced me to spend time to listen carefully and find points of interest in the sounds I made. This also served as a way to experiment with different musical styles and methods of compositions to bring in new ideas and avoid using the same process on multiple days.

I did not own any physical synthesizer at the time or much audio gear. In fact everything was made on a laptop, AudioTechnica ATH-M40X Headphones, and a cheap dynamic microphone on a Steinberg UR22 MKII interface.
